We are two sisters who have a shared passion for caring for dogs. We have over 10 years of experience in the pet industry and are beyond excited to welcome your dog as part of our family!
I have enjoyed being around dogs throughout my life and am privileged to be able to expand that fondness into a business. I truly enjoy forming lasting relationships with our two-legged and four-legged clients and am always excited to welcome new clients to our facility.
While originally from Madison, WI, I have lived in Iowa for almost 7 years and now live locally in West Branch with my family. My husband and I have two wonderful kids, two dogs (Kona and Pumpkin) and a sweet little cat named Ebby.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, taking trips to Lake MacBride with my dogs, and drinking good beer with friends. I hope you come to love Two Sisters Kennels!
Meagan has always had a love for all animals and has been raised with dogs all her life. When this opportunity to work with your four-legged family members came up she couldn’t resist! A dream come true!!
A few things Meagan enjoys in her free time are spending time with her kids, her 4 dogs, her grand dogs, reading, and gardening. She is excited to care for your fur babies at Two Sisters Kennels!
Ana is an Air Force veteran with a passion for working with dogs. With experience working beside dog handlers in the military, she has a natural connection with animals and even shares her home with three lovable rescue dogs.
Ana’s journey reflects dedication, compassion, and a strong sense of adventure, always striving to make a positive impact—whether it’s with her furry companions or her community.
Ana has been a valued member of our team since joining in the summer of 2024. During her time at TSK, she has advanced from Dog Handler to Lead Dog Handler and now serves as Kennel Manager. Ana takes pride in building strong relationships with clients and ensures that every dog in her care is treated with the same love and attention she would give her own pets.
I am currently a junior at the University of Iowa studying Political Science on the Pre-Law track.
I’ve always grown up around working dogs and can’t wait to have my own. My family has two Dobermans that I helped train, and they are my best friends. In my free time I enjoy working out and painting.
I love working at Two Sisters Kennels because it’s an opportunity to meet all different kinds of dogs and is a great stress reliever from school!
Darlene became interested in dog training in 2008 when she fostered dogs for the Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center. She saw how a positive relationship, patience, consistency and reward-based training methods gained trust and formed a positive bond with the dogs. She enrolled in the Animal Behavior College training program in 2009.
In addition to Certification from the Animal Behavior College (ABC-DT), Darlene is a certified Family Dog Mediator (FDM), a member of the Pet Professional Guild (PPG), a supporting member of the International Assocation of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC), and a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT). Darlene is a graduate of Trish McMillan’s Shelter Behavior Hub Course. She recently completed Dr. Kathy Murphy’s extensive “The Brain and Behavior through Life Stages” course and the Karen Pryor Academy Puppy Start Right Program. She believes you can never stop learning and takes every opportunity to attend training and behavior conferences and seminars.
She strives to incorporate the most progressive, science-based, and ethical practices into her work. Darlene is a graduate of Loyola University of Chicago (BSN, RN). She is also a Certified Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE), and a Medicolegal Death Investigator (MDI).
Cael Nelson is a junior in high school and participates in both golf and baseball.
He enjoys spending time with the dogs after completing his cleaning duties and especially loves spending time with Harley the Doodle.
Born and raised in Central Iowa, Ashley always knew that, regardless of which path she would take in her life, animals would remain a central focus. Having long used Two Sisters for the care and socialization of her dogs, she (finally!) made the transition to employee in July 2023.
Desiree is a dedicated dog lover whose passion for adventure shines both at work and beyond. Raised on the sunny shores of coastal North Carolina, she moved to Iowa’s rolling fields eight years ago. Now a proud mom to three kids and three beloved pups—Silas, Ramsey, and Bailey—she’s never lived in a home without a dog.
Dogs have always been her favorite animal, and caring for them here is deeply rewarding. When she’s not at the kennel, Desiree loves traveling and discovering new destinations, but nothing compares to the joy she finds in connecting with our four-legged guests every day.
