Hello, everyone! My name is Alyssa Vicker. I am one of TSK’s newest additions, and I’d like to tell you all a little about myself and why I do what I do. I am 23 years young, and have actually recently moved to the Iowa area from a village in Illinois. I have always had a passion working with animals, but I found my true calling when it came to working with dogs. I’ve had dogs my entire life growing up, however, I met my, “heart dog,” when I was five years old, (pictured above.) His name was Gatorbait, a name I gave him myself, and he was easily the greatest friend I could ever ask for. We spent 16 very happy years together and he’s truly the reason why I found my niche. We used to watch training videos and try new things together whenever we got bored. We spent so much time learning each other over the years and he showed me more about myself than I thought I’d ever know. He taught me patience, perseverance, and most importantly to me, that dogs have souls, just like us. Because of him, I want to spend the rest of my life working with dogs. It’s the most rewarding and fulfilling job I’ve ever had and I’m more than proud to be working where I am. In this field, you’ve never learned everything, it’s a forever learning curve, but it’s one of the best parts. I can’t wait to continue to learn, grow, and enjoy every furry, or not so furry, soul that comes our way.
